These circular formations belong to the Micro Atolls of the Maldives and in the native language of their inhabitants are called faru. A faru is either a lagoon surrounded by reefs or a circle shaped coral reef, which at ebb times protrudes from the sea. These are a part of the Baa Atoll situated circa 120 km northwest of Male, the capital of the Maldives in the centre of the Archipelago.
