The ice tongue of the Aletsch Glacier is about 25 km long. In the last 110 years it has shrunk by approx. 2 km. High above, between the peaks in the so called Konkordiaplatz (Concordia Place), its surface has sunk by 75 m since 1850. Still it is the largest glacier in the Alps.
