COTOPAXI

Covered with glaciers, 5911m high Cotopaxi is one of the highest active volcanoes on this planet. It has erupted 50 times since 1758. Its last eruption occurred in 1904. In 1975 and 1976 a number of earthquakes were registered in the area, but the expected eruptions did not come and the volcano calmed down again.
