VOLCANOES – PHOTOGRAPHED FROM THE AIR

MOUNT ETNA 1

Sicily’s Mount Etna is higher than 3300 m. In recent years, the volcano has erupted a number of times with its worst phase to date starting in October 2002 and continuing until February 2003. The clouds of ash discharged by the volcano shrouded the surrounding villages, covering them with a layer of grey dust and sand, perpetually paralysing their life.
