BIG MELT

DRIFT ICE, LIVERPOOLLAND, EAST GREENLAND

Only three months in the year, water is not completely frozen on the coast of East Greenland. During this time, which is summer, ice flows adrift with the cold East Greenland Stream from the Arctic Sea southwards and meets the ice junks which float out of the deep fjords of the coastal mountain ranges of Liverpoolland.  On the sea floor, offshore Liverpoolland, oil companies presume huge oil and gas reserves, but the drifting ice has prevented the oil exploitation so far. However, this could change due to global warming.
