A huge glacier snout opened in the front of the Triftgletscher in the Bernese Oberland area in the summer of 2007. Clear blue and green melt water came out of the ice.
Although the glacier points to the north, it shrinks. The Trift Glacier retreated more than 500 m between 2003 and 2005, which is 10 per cent of its length.
